Long before Topsail became the center of my real estate business, it became an important part of my life. My connection to the island began in 1994, when my family first visited and quickly realized this was someplace special. They built a home in North Topsail Beach the following year, and I spent the next decade returning every summer—fishing, surfing and exploring the sound from a 13-foot Boston Whaler.
After graduating from Randolph-Macon College with a degree in Business and Economics, I initially worked in construction supply. I moved to Surf City full time in 2004 and purchased my first Topsail Island home in 2007. Although I later sold that property, buying, owning and maintaining a home on the island gave me firsthand experience with the responsibilities and decisions that come with coastal ownership. I continue to live in Surf City today.

An owner’s perspective on coastal property
Owning near the coast involves more than choosing a view or calculating the distance to the beach. It means considering how weather exposure, insurance, maintenance, access, municipal requirements and intended use may affect a property long after closing.
Having made those decisions for myself, I understand why buyers and owners need more than a sales presentation. They need someone who can help identify the right questions, distinguish verified information from assumptions and recognize when guidance should come from an insurance professional, inspector, attorney, lender or accountant.
One answer does not fit every property. A primary residence, second home, vacation rental, condominium, new construction project and vacant lot can each require a different approach.
Experience beyond the listing photographs
I have been licensed in North Carolina since 2008. Before moving into real estate sales full time in 2018, I spent 11 years managing more than 150 vacation rentals and 120 long-term rentals across Onslow and Pender counties.
Property management provided an education that could not have come from sales alone. I saw how coastal properties were maintained, how rental use affected homes, which details mattered to owners and guests, and how expectations compared with the realities of ownership. It taught me to look beyond attractive photographs and consider how a property will be used, maintained and supported over time.
My earlier work in construction supply also continues to influence how I approach homes, new construction and land. It does not make me an inspector or contractor, but it helps me recognize questions that deserve a closer look and bring the appropriate professional into the conversation.
Who I serve
Today, I work directly with buyers, sellers, investors and second-home owners throughout Surf City, Topsail Beach and North Topsail Beach, as well as the nearby mainland communities of Hampstead, Holly Ridge and Sneads Ferry.
My work includes primary residences, coastal second homes, properties used as vacation rentals, condominiums, luxury homes, new construction, vacant land and select light-commercial opportunities. I begin by understanding how a client intends to use the property, because that decision influences which locations, property types and ownership considerations deserve the most attention.
For buyers, that means investigating the property and its tradeoffs rather than simply opening doors. For sellers, it means developing a realistic strategy around the home, the market and the buyers most likely to recognize its value.
Straight answers and direct representation
When you hire me, you work directly with me. I remain responsible for the strategy, research, questions, negotiation and communication throughout the transaction, while coordinating with the lenders, insurance professionals, inspectors, attorneys, contractors and other specialists the situation may require.
My approach is straightforward: explain what I know, say what still needs to be verified and do not promise what cannot be known. I would rather identify a concern early—even if it changes someone’s decision—than allow it to become an expensive surprise later.
Real estate decisions are personal. Some clients are preparing for a full-time move. Others are looking for a family retreat, evaluating rental potential, selling a longtime property or planning years ahead. Good representation begins with understanding which of those goals actually matters to you.

Life in Surf City
Surf City is where my family and I have chosen to build our life. I am married with three children, and our household also includes a Portuguese Water Dog and a Siberian Forest Cat.
Fishing, boating and surfing have been part of my connection to the Topsail area since my teenage years. My OUPV captain’s credential and FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate reflect that continuing interest in experiencing and understanding the coast from both the water and the air.
I did not choose the Topsail area because real estate brought me here. I chose to make it home first. My real estate career grew from that experience—and from a genuine understanding of why other people want to build a life, own a retreat or make an investment here too.
Let’s begin with your plans
Whether you are ready to make a move or are still considering the possibilities, I am happy to begin with a straightforward conversation about the property, the location and the questions worth asking.
